The Board of the Ghana Reggae Dancehall Awards is thrilled to announce its maiden edition for Reggae and Dancehall musicians and industry players to have their own awards to celebrate their works. It is with great pride that we announce the launch of the Ghana Reggae Dancehall Awards (GRDAs) which will recognize and celebrate the hard work and creative genius of the growing reggae and dancehall music industry in Ghana.
GRDAs is a platform to recognize and appreciate the contributions of both past and present reggae and dancehall musicians in Ghana. The awards scheme seeks to reward excellence and celebrate deserving artistes who have made significant contributions to the growth and development of the genre.
The GRDAs has over twenty categories, including Best Reggae Song, Best Dancehall Song, Best International Collaboration, and Lifetime Achievement Award. Other categories include Best International Artiste, Best MC, and Best Mixtape.
The GRDAs will kick off with the call for entries, which is scheduled for April 2023. This will be followed by the nominees’ jam, and the awards night which will be held in early August.
The GRDAs is an important platform in recognizing and celebrating the contributions of reggae and dancehall artistes in Ghana. We are certain that the awards will not only spur the artistes to greater heights in their creative endeavors but will also serve as a great platform for the growth and development of the music industry.
